Island Packet 440 • Island Packet has been building full-keel cruising boats since the 1970s and this year will be adding the Island Packet 440 to its line. Following the success of the IP37, the 440 is the first aft cockpit model in the 40-plus-foot range in the past six years. The cutter rig comes with a self-tacking, furling staysail with all lines run aft, keeping with the Island Packet theme to make sailing simple, safe and fun. The numbers verify what the first glance assumes: With a SA/D of 18 and a D/L of 259, the 440 is built conservatively to take care of you at sea. The 440 comes with an optional MasPower 8kW generator and Lewmar electric winch, a first for Island Packet.

The interior features a double island berth and adjoining heads in the fore and aft cabins. The settees in the main saloon can accommodate an additional three bodies, or serve as sea berths while underway. The saloon table folds out of the way keeping the main cabin open and spacious, and storage lockers abound. The forward-facing nav desk is amply sized for paper charts and electronic gadgetry. With the spacious galley and significant fuel and water capacity, the 440 is sure to keep you in cruising comfort far from home.
