Winter Webinars Build Cruising Skills

By Sandy Parks · On January 21, 2022

With boat shows and in-person seminars still hampered by the ongoing covid pandemic, online webinars and podcasts have really come into their own as a way to share knowledge and build skills remotely. For cruisers, particularly on the East Coast, the Salty Dawg Sailing Association has launched a two-month-long series of in-depth cruising seminars that both inform and entertain. The webinars are hosted by sailors with a lot of experienced offshore and industry professionals who really know their trades and the rigors of the cruising life. The series started in early January and runs through February and covers everything from insurance for cruisers, how to buy the right cruising boat, rally sailing, communications at sea, weather and routing, safety equipment and storm tactics. The webinars are free for members of the Salty Dawg Sailing Association. For non-members, the whole series costs only $25 when you register. Or, you can sign up for one webinar at a time for $12 each. Past webinars are archived on the SDSA website and available for free for members only. So, join the fun and you might learn something, too.
