Freddy: Longest-Lived Tropical Cyclone

(weather.com) – Freddy has broken the record for the longest-lasting treopical cyclone and is headed towards Mozambique for a second time. Freddy formed off Indonesia in early February and has made the way across the entire southern Indian Ocean. The cyclone has also set a record for the most times a tropical cyclone has rapidly intensified during its lifetime, meaning it gained at least 35 mph of wind intensity in 24 hours or less, for a record seventh time. Read more.
