British model Amy Willerton, who is no stranger to challenges after her time in ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, is about to start her biggest adventure yet by sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in the final leg of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
Amy joins the Garmin crew, one of twelve teams of amateur sailors to compete in the world’s longest ocean race. On board each of the 70 foot racing yachts the only professional sailor is the Skipper.
Amy met up with Clipper Race founder Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first person to sail solo and non-stop around the world in 1968-69, and the Garmin Skipper Ashley Skett in Gosport, UK, before flying to Australia to complete four weeks of intensive training that has turned her into an ocean racer.
Amy joins the team in New York for the final leg of the journey to London via Derry-Londonderry in Northern Ireland and Den Helder in the Netherlands. The race will finish with a parade up the River Thames on 30 July 2016.
