The US holds the record for the most medals won in Olympic sailing but you wouldn’t appreciate that fact if you looked at the results from the last two summer Olympics in which we won only one medal each. US Sailing and the US Olympic Committee has been struggling with how to turn the program around and get more young sailors committed to long term campaigns in Olympic classes. One positive step forward is the creation of FAST in San Francisco.
The Facility for Advanced Sailing and Technology has opened at Treasure Island Sailing Center. FAST USA combines the resources of a three-way partnership between TISC, the St. Francis Sailing Foundation, and US Sailing, the sport’s national governing body. The partnership will enhance the community-based activities of TISC and create a flagship training base for the US Sailing Team of unprecedented scope and technological sophistication. Read more.
