How much longer does your displacement boat need to be if you want to double the hull speed?

Send your answer to cruisingcompass@bwsailing.com. The winner, selected randomly from correct answers, will receive a Blue Water Sailing hat.
Thanks to last weeks winner, Mitchell Lebold, for his answer to the question:  What is the key advantage of a 24 volt system over a 12 volt system?

Using 24v over 12v means half the current draw for the same appliance. Therefore, smaller wire diameter (gauge) needed to supply current and hence weight, cost and space savings. All important on a boat.
