The winner of last week’s Mindbender is Eric Grant who correctly answered Joshua Slocum. He also commented: “We in Nova Scotia, Canada are proud of the fact that a sailor born in the community of Mount Hanley, in this province, has this distinction. In later years Joshua grew up on Briar Island in this province, and started his circumnavigation from New Bedford, Mass after a long career as a a skipper of large sailing vessels. On a personal note, I was involved with a committee that struck a commemorative plaque, and mounted it on the original Mount Hanley School House, where it remains to this day.
