How One Family Went from New Boat Owners to Blue Water Sailors

By George Day · On March 28, 2018

Some actually do it.  In the British magazine Yachting Monthly, an English family tells the story of how they bought their first boat, fixed up, learned how to sail and then set off to sail around the world.  We join Casper and Nichola Craven and their children (in Nichola’s photo above) as they are sailing from Panama to the Galapagos Islands..

“Surreal. Not a breath of wind tonight. The sea’s surface is flat and unbroken. The sky is utterly cloudless and filled with stars. A half moon lights up the entire picture. It’s so still it’s unbelievable. We are six miles north of the Equator and on the cusp of leaving the northern hemisphere.  Nichola and the children are excited.” Read more.
