Every Columbus Day Weekend, the North American sailing community gathers in picturesque Annapolis. MD, in what has become the nation’s largest all-sail boat show. This year the show runs from October 4 through the 8th. The show is unique in that it takes over the whole waterfront of the state capital so the downtown area is all basically a part of the show. Tens of thousands of sailors come to town for the event. Many will be shopping for great deals on gear and equipment, some will be ready to pull the trigger on a new boat and many others will sign up for bareboat charters in the Caribbean during the winter ahead. Getting “show discounts” is a great reason to come to the show. But, now that we’ve been attending the Annapolis show for many years, for us it is the great sailing buzz that the show delivers. There are sailors just like us everywhere, all talking boats, cruising, racing and plans and dreams of sailing adventures ahead. Cruising Compass, with BWS and Multihulls Quarterly, will be at the show in our usual both at A-B 12. Stop by to say hello.
