Powerboat and Catamaran Collide Resulting in One Woman’s Death

(Go Local Prov) – Sunday afternoon a sailboat was participating in a regatta when it collided with a powerboat near the Newport Bridge, Newport, RI. Currently known is that the “Newport Harbormaster responded first and recovered a 60-year-old woman, unconscious, resulting from a collision between a powerboat and a two-person catamaran sailboat.” The DEM is investigating and say alcohol was not a factor.
