(Economic Times) – Last month the cargo ship MV X-Press Pearl was headed from the UAE via Qatar, India and Sri Lanka en route to Singapore when they reported a nitric acid leak before reaching Sri Lanka. Containers on board were labeled as dangerous goods and Sri Lankan specialists were sent to monitor the ship after a fire was detected onboard. Subsequently an explosion occurred on the vessel and the vessel eventually sank. People fear there is an environmental disaster in the making from the contents being released from the ship and security concerns have been raised as well as there is suspicion regarding the chemicals onboard the ship.
