(gCaptain) – The Ecuadoran government is looking to create a marine reserve near the Galapagos Islands to help protect threatened migratory species including whales and sharks. The concern stems from the large Chinese fishing fleets that operate near the islands and while Ecuador can’t prevent Chinese fishing fleets, they can limit the acivities of their own commercial fishing industry.
