(Soundings Trade Only) – Electronic distress signaling devices are an alternative to pyrotechnic flares. While the Coast Guard does not issue approval certificates for e-flares they do have a list of 10 self-certified devices on their Coast Guard Maritime Information Exchange which means these e-flares have been independently tested at a Coast Guard-approved lab.
