Many thanks to everyone who sent in answers to last week’s question. The winner this week is regular Mindbender contributor Jeff Peters who emailed: “TBT. Also known as Tributyltin is an organic tin compound used in anti-fouling paints. It’s use has been banned globally on ships since 2008.”
Editor’s note: While banned by the IMO and other regulatory bodies, TBT anti-fouling coatings are still available in countries and regions without effective enforcement agencies, such as the Caribbean and Central America.
