Have you ever owned a boat that experienced gelcoat blisters?
Many thanks to all readers who took the time to reply to last week’s survey. Of those who replied, 43% are in the oprocess of fitting out their boats for living aboard and offshore cruising. Of those, the best guestimate by 32% of readers of the coast, as a percentage of the boat’s initial coast, is 4- to 50%. So, if the boat’s purchase price is $100,000, then they expect to spend $40 to 50,000 on the refit. 25% said 10 to 20%, 25% said 20 to 30%, 11% said 40 to 50% and 15% said more than 50%.
