(BBC News) – Socrates has sailed into the record books, becoming the oldest person to sail singlehanded, non-stop around the world. An earlier attempt resulted in her breaking her neck and ribs, this trip resulted in her sailboat Nereida ripping a mainsail and losing her solar panels overboard. The previous oldest sailor to circumnavigate around the world was 71 year old Minoru Saito who sailed in 2005. Socrates completed her journey in 320 days. Read More
