{"id":25036,"date":"2016-03-23T20:58:22","date_gmt":"2016-03-23T20:58:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bwsailing.com\/cc\/?p=25036"},"modified":"2016-03-23T21:01:28","modified_gmt":"2016-03-23T21:01:28","slug":"sail-to-maine-with-the-salty-dawgs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bwsailing.com\/cc\/2016\/03\/sail-to-maine-with-the-salty-dawgs\/","title":{"rendered":"Sail to Maine With the Salty Dawgs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Salty Dawg Rally is hosting two new events on the Chesapeake this summer &#8211; the <em>Rally to Maine<\/em>, from the Southern Chesapeake to Newport and Maine, and a <em>Southern Chesapeake Rendezvous<\/em> open to all interested in blue water sailing.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Rally to Maine<\/em> departs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icycc.com\" target=\"_blank\">Indian Creek Yacht &amp; Country Club<\/a> in Virginia July 11th, and arrives in Maine for some great \u201cdowneast\u201d cruising July 18th or shortly after, depending on weather and boat speeds.\u00a0 The rally is open to all boats wishing to make this passage, with the usual solid rally preparation assistance, weather services, offshore coordination, and camaraderie and fun events the Salty Dawg Rallies are known for.<\/p>\n<p>Vessels may also join the rally in Newport\/Jamestown.\u00a0 Those planning to attend the Salty Dawg 5th Annual <em>Bristol, R.I. 4<sup>th<\/sup> of July Rendezvous<\/em> can stay in the area and link up with the <em>Rally to Maine<\/em> about July 14<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Rally to Maine<\/em> will be led by experienced offshore sailors Hank &amp; Seale George, with great pre-departure events, exciting stops in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jamestown-ri.info\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jamestown, RI<\/a> (near Newport) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mattapoisettlionsclub.org\/pb\/wp_c07f6445\/wp_c07f6445.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mattapoisett Harbor<\/a>, transit through the Cape Cod Canal, and landfall in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mainetourism.com\/maines-mid-coast?source=Google&amp;gclid=COf6nNiD18sCFZNZhgodJpYGXQ\" target=\"_blank\">Rockland, Maine<\/a>.\u00a0 A special arrival reception is planned in Rockland to celebrate the fleet\u2019s completion of its passage.\u00a0 From there cruisers can visit the iconic villages of the area, and explore the numerous attractive anchorages, parks and isles of coastal Maine.
