Mark and Diana Doyle, authors of the very popular cruising guide<\/em> On the Water ChartGuides, announce that they are moving on to new adventures.<\/em><\/p>\n

From a statement on their website:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf words can describe where you are \u2026 keep going.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

We love that quote, and after nearly 30 years it turns out that Mark and I can describe the ICW pretty well \u2026 so we figure it\u2019s time to keep going.<\/p>\n

In Cuba this winter we talked daily about building a plan for our next ten years. The result is that m\/v Semi-Local is for sale, we\u2019ve bought another RV, and we\u2019re prepping some long hikes and looking forward to lots of international travel!<\/p>\n

First, we want to thank everyone for all of the friendship and support you\u2019ve offered as we\u2019ve stumbled through this self-publishing obstacle course together.<\/p>\n

Second, we want to wish each of you success and happiness in chasing your own dreams \u2026 on whatever magic carpet you choose.
\nMany will ask, \u201cWhy shut down On the Water ChartGuides?\u201d The reason is pretty simple and we think you\u2019ll understand and respect our decision.<\/p>\n

Our books, and our reputation, were built upon really-really being there. We were current, accurate, and detailed. And that will no longer be possible. So rather than milk the cash cow and sell stale info, or worse yet, become yet another of today\u2019s armchair-cruising Google-researching guide publishers, we\u2019re shutting down our Apple iBook Store and selling off the remaining print inventory from our website.
\nWe\u2019re water dogs, so we\u2019ll undoubtedly see many of you again. And as more and more of you travel to places away from shore \u2026 well, who knows?<\/p>\n

All National Parks are on our bucket list. So is RVing New Zealand, hiking Kilimanjaro, and riding a camel at the Great Pyramid!
\nWe\u2019re ready for that new plan \u2026 it\u2019s called, \u201cOther People\u2019s Guides.\u201d<\/p>\n
