Whilel ashore,\u00a0Team AkzoNobel star Martine Grael reflected on the opening legs of the race \u2013 as she goes diving with rescued turtles in Cape Town<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think I went through a single watch without seeing plastic in the ocean\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But this time, it\u2019s not onboard the boat that will be\u00a0the Olympic gold medalist&#8217;s home for the next forty-odd thousand\u00a0miles. We\u2019re at the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town\u2019s V&amp;A Waterfront, and she\u2019s about to go free-diving with rescued turtles affected by plastic pollution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen a lot of wildlife from onboard team AkzoNobel on the first two legs, particularly around the coast of Spain and Portugal,\u201d she explains. \u201cIt\u2019s amazing \u2013 a lot of whales, dolphins, and monkfish.\u00a0Unfortunately, we also saw a lot of plastic.
