Plus, the association has a great and useful website where they post fun stories from their member that are accessible to any and all readers. Here\u2019s a good story about the passage from French Polynesia to Tonga and Samoa. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 &#8220;In the last article from Memories of a Circumnavigation Hugh and Heather\u00a0<\/em><em><u>arrived in the Marquesas islands<\/u><\/em><em>\u00a0and gave us a taste of French Polynesia.\u00a0 Lets continue to follow the adventures of\u00a0<strong>Argonauta I<\/strong>, from when they began their journey in 1997 in the Caribbean, until the completion of the circumnavigation in 2006, when they crossed their\u00a01997 outbound Caribbean track.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;March 12, 2000, we returned to Raiatea where we had left\u00a0<em>Argonauta I<\/em>\u00a0for cyclone season. There had been no seriously bad weather, so we found all well. We were laden with boat parts and had even more arriving by sea freight. We spent the following 17 days at the nearby Sunset Motel. Staff there used a frontend loader to move our bags to our cottage! Yacht modifications included a new gooseneck and a rod boom vang, which eliminated the need for a topping lift. We replaced the topping lift with one of main halyard diameter and bingo, we had a second halyard aft of the mast.
