The seas between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans are a battleground between two opposing bodies of water. And it appears that the Arctic is starting to lose the war. This is happening faster than models projected, and scientists don\u2019t quite know what the long-term impacts will be.<\/p>\n

The rapid \u201cAtlantification\u201d of the Arctic Ocean is chronicled in a new Nature Climate Change <\/em>study<\/a> published on Monday. The study focuses on the Barents Sea, which sits just above Scandinavia and is what the researchers refer to as an \u201cArctic warming hotspot\u201d and \u201cthe doorstep to the Arctic Ocean.\u201d<\/p>\n
