It is a story that challenges perceptions of disability and explores what can be achieved when determination meets opportunity.

About the film, Craig said: “A solo Pacific crossing is difficult in general, not just for a triple amputee but I wanted to show other disabled people what we can achieve because we’re not incapable, we’re disabled.

“In it, I talk about the preparations I made for the crossing, including a ‘Craig design’ airbag system made from six car airbags attached to the boat to avoid sinking if the boat became damaged and my anxiety about the mental toll the challenge will have on me.

“Ultimately, this film documents my journey towards appreciating my mind and it’s out-the-box thinking ability, how much resilience I have and this isn’t just about sailing. It’s about showing that even after being blown up, after losing your legs and your hand, life isn’t over. You can still do something that matters. It was an incredible experience and I hope it gives other disabled people a push to chase their dreams. You can sail your own ocean.”

For Team Forces, who sponsored Craig’s expedition, his challenge demonstrates how corporate support can help members of the Armed Forces community pursue ambitious goals while inspiring others through their achievements.

Lamont Kirkland CBE at Team Forces said: “Craig’s story is extraordinary, and Singlehanded offers an opportunity for audiences to understand the determination and resilience behind his historic achievement. We are proud to have supported his expedition alongside our sponsors Google Cloud, boxxe, Palo Alto Networks, Veeam, Collins Aerospace and Dataminr and delighted to see his journey brought to a wider audience through the film.

“We hope the film inspires people to look beyond perceived limitations and recognise what can be achieved when individuals are given the opportunity and support to pursue their ambitions.”

Single handed is available to stream exclusively on YouTube now at: Single Handed – Conquering the pacific

British Army veteran Craig Wood, who overcame life-changing injuries to make history as the world’s first triple amputee to sail solo across the Pacific Ocean, setting two Guinness World Records, has launched a film documenting this historic voyage.
