The Mysterious Green Flash

(iflscience.com) – For years sailors have sought to see the green flash, an astronomical phenomenon that can be seen over large bodies of water or desert. They can be observed either at sunrise or sunset and results when two optical phenomena occur: a mirage and the dispersion of sunlight. Generally the length of the green flash is between one and three seconds which helps to explain why they are so hard to experience. Read more.
