Will globe-wide high-speed internet become a reality?

Globe-wide high-speed internet would truly be a boon for boaters, cruisers, and others who can’t be reached by a cable. Bill Gates tried in the ’90s until the price tag exploded, Facebook gave up on its recent plans, and LightSquared’s attempt was squashed when its transmissions were found to interfere with GPS. The founder of SpaceX may have a solution – plus he has spacecraft!
