Congratulations to Len Tosi of Almeida, CA, who gave a detailed answer to last week’s Mindbender. “To support an inner fore stay or cuter stay, you can set the mast up with diamond stays that will prevent the top third of the mast from bending forward under stain on the stay sail, or more commonly you can rig running backstays on both side of the boat that can be set up when the stay sail is used in a good breeze.”
