(mysailing.au) – A 67-year old man was rescued off his 38-foot sailboat, the Miss Lily, nearly 500 miles south, southwest of Dutch Harbor, AK this week. The man issued an EPIRB alert from his disabled vessel which was relayed to the U. S. Coast Guard. They in turn issued a broadcast to vessels in the area which was picked up by the President Eisenhower, a 984-foot bulk carrier cargo ship located some 30 miles from the sailor. They diverted to the man and were able to pick him up from one of their small boats and successfully transfer to their ship. Read More
