Congratulations to Terry Flynn of Cork, Ireland who correctly identified the “dolphin striker” in last week’s Mindbender. “The dolphin striker is the strut on a boat with a bowsprit that supports the bobstay in much the same way as a spreader on a mast supports a side stay. The bobstay runs from the bow at the waterline around the dolphin striker to the forward tip of the bow sprit and makes fast to what used to be called a cranse iron. “
