Postponement of Closure of Mile 579.9 Intracoastal Waterway

By Sandy Parks · On September 22, 2023

Earlier last week Waterway Guide reported that the Georgia Department of Transportation had a plan for demolition of the Causton Bluff Bridge at Mile 579.9 on the Wilmington River that would have closed the waterway for up to seven weeks with limited times for passage. Friday, September 15 a spokesperson for the Transportation Department said that “In the interest of marine safety, the Contractor (Prince Contracting) has postponed the closing of the AICW on September 18 until further notice.”
