Race boat, Outlaw AU, a Baltic 55 with 11 crew onboard participating in the Ocean Globe Race contacted race headquarters that they had come in contact with a single mariner adrift in a 20-foot canoe some 90 nm off the coast of Dakar. He had no water and no radio or sign of fishing gear. The captain of Outlaw, Campbell Mackie, took him in tow and proceeded towards Dakar.
