Sunken Sailboat Salvaged from Canal in Lewes, DE

(Cape Gazette) – Late September a crew of four were onboard a 52-foot sailboat in the middle of the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal when they were struck by another vessel. Coast Guard Cape May Station had a 45-foot response boat nearby and they were able to rescue the crew while a Tow Boat US crew began towing the sailboat towards Angler’s Marina in Lewes, DE. As they neared the marina the sailboat rolled over and sank. Last week they were able to raise the boat enough using air-filled bladders to tow the boat to the marina. Read more.
