Happy New Year and many thanks to all readers who took the time to fill out the long last survey of 2023 on the use of Starlink on our boats. 21% of those who answered have added Starlink to their boats. Of those 81% installed the RV Mobile antenna while 19% went with the Maritime Mobile antenna. Readers with the RV Mobile antenna gave the systerm a 4 star rating out of 5. Those with the Maritime system gave it 4.5 stars out of 5. 67% of Starlink users also have a backup communications system. In order, the most popular backup comm systems are: Ham/SSB radio, InReach, IridiumGo, Sat phones, an EPIRB and PLBs.
