Using Periscope, a brand new live streaming app launched by Twitter in March, Team Alvimedica’s OBR, Amory Ross will be broadcasting onboard streams on the @volvooceanrace account, right from the racecourse.
It’s an exciting initiative which will mean that fans can get the inside view on this short, sharp sprint around the bay – and even the chance to engage and interact with the sailors.
“As a sport on the fringes, sailing really benefits from finding innovative ways of reaching a new audience,” says Amory.
“This Race has taken to the simplicity of social media and this is a great opportunity to benefit from the growing global audience provided by Periscope.”
With the In-Port Series close, the hour-long race promises to be a real spectacle with plenty of action, maneuvers and energy.
