How many nautical miles in 1 degree of latitude? And how many nautical miles in 1 degree of longitude at the 60th parallel?

Send your answer to cruisingcompass@bwsailing.com. The winner, selected randomly from correct answers, will receive a Blue Water Sailing hat.

Thanks to last weeks winner,Karen Trautz, for her answer to the question:What does the saying “True Virgins Make Dull Companions” have to to do with the sailing community? It’s a mnemonic used to remember the order in which to calculate the course to steer starting from True heading and adjusting for Variation to get the Magnetic heading, then adjusting for Deviation to reach a Compass heading.  TVMDC.  Add Whiskey was the rest of the mnemonic I remember to Add Westerly variation, versus subtract easterly variation.
