Congratulations to Lisa Batchelor Frailey for correctly identifying a Monkey’s Fist. “A monkey’s fist is a knotted line, about the size of a small fist or baseball. The monkey’s fist and attached light line is thrown ashore, to “send over” a larger diameter line attached to the end of the light line. That heavier line will then secure boat to pier. A monkeys fist can also be used to get a line up over spreaders.
