The fall boat show season officially gets underway in the Northeast today when the Newport boat show gates open at 10 am. It’s a mixed sail and power show that has been running continuously since 1974. Through the weekend, the show takes over the center of lovely Newport, RI so there are restaurants and galleries and high-end shops all around outside the show. Inside, you will find a great cross section of the marine industry and many of the vendors will be offering show discounts on everything from boat shoes to 70-foot yachts. Blue Water Sailing, Cruising Compass, Multihull Quarterly and Cruising Odyssey –our family of publications—will be set up in Tent A, so come and visit and sign up for subscriptions. We also are giving boat show discounts. For cruisers, there are a dozen or more new boats to look at and plenty of tried and true designs to examine and get ideas from. The tent are full of gear and services booths, so if you need something, you will find it. The forecast for the weekend is excellent, so we hope you bring friends and family and come visit us at the show.
