Three months after Hurricane Michael charged up from the Gulf, nearly all the 544 boats it left derelict in the water along Florida’s Panhandle have been picked up, reports the Tallahassee Democrat.
It’s been a coordinated, multi-million dollar project to remove the boats that pose an environmental hazard as they leak hydrocarbons into the water and a navigation hazard to other boaters.
As of Wednesday, the mission by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, was 99 percent complete said FWC’s Robert Rowe. Read More
