Sargassum Seaweed Continues to Impact Open Water and Beaches Including the Caribbean

Joan Conover of the SSCA has a useful article regarding Sargassum seaweed on Noonsite. Cruisers in particular need to be aware of the spread of Sargassum seaweed which can foul props, filters and rudders. On the beach it can kill turtle eggs and other wildlife.

There are two universities researching the spread of the seaweed and the SSCA is encouraging cruisers to take part in these studies. Read More
