Singlehander’s Vessel Struck by a Whale

(noonsite.com) – The sailing vessel Matroos encountered a pod of whales 37 miles off Horta, Azores when the boat was struck by one whale. Water was coming through the broken keel bolts and the singlehander had to call for a rescue. He was picked up by Ocean Cruising Club members Gabriele and Jonathan Lyne aboard their boat Aqualuna.
