(CTV News) – Glenn Wakefield of Vancouver Island was attempting to make a solo voyage around the world on his boat the West Wind II. 500 miles west of San Francisco he managed to message his family before passing from a massive stroke. Wakefield had gotten in touch with the USCG who along with a merchant vessel were able to get to him and bring him to a hospital in San Jose, CA. Due to Covid-19 the family were unable to visit.
