When sailing in tropical waters, when you see the underside of trade wind clouds appear to be turquoise in color, what does that tell you?

Congratulations to Leslie McCormick of Reston, VA who correctly answered last week’s question about how dolphin and whales sleep without drowning. She emailed, “Whales and dolphin don’t sleep like other mammals since they have to consciously take breaths instead of it being automatic.  When they sleep they have only half of their brains ssleep at a time while the other half remains alert and controls breathing.  In this mode, they will either lie quietly in the water, sometimes vertically and sometimes horizontally. Or they can sleep while swimming slowly next to a companion that is awake.  Here’s a good article about this in the Scientific American.”
