The Island Nation of Tonga Covered in Grey Ash

(CBS News) – Tonga’s capital Nuku’alofa was covered in almost two inches of volcanic ash and dust while a couple of islands within the island nation have had all homes destroyed. An undersea volcano erupted on January 15, 2022 -one of the largest recorded in decades. Local communications have been restored though international communications remain faulty as the blast severed an undersea communications cable.
