New US Flag Open Ship Registry Announced

(gCaptain) – Some maritime experts are calling this new registry the most historic moment for the U.S. shipping industry this century. Over fifty percent of ships are now registerd in the Marshall Islands, Panama and Liberia. Now ships will be able to be registered under the new Virgin Islands flag which will realize physical and cyber protection from relevant US agencies. What is unclear is if ship owners will be willing to ditch cheap flags of convenience for better access to capital and cargo. Read More
