(Egyptian Streets) – In what authorities say is an effort to beautify the waterfront in Cairo houseboats that have been there for decades are being removed, either to be demolished or confiscated. Originally there were about 200 houseboats though today there are only about 30. The owners claim a rich cultural heritage will be lost but the government states it plans to proceed with the removal of the remaining houseboats. Read More
