(newsweek.com) – Last year members of a whale fossil escavation team were searching for fossils when they discovered four ribs sticking out of the ground deep in a jungle valley. The nearly complete fossil belongs to a big fin whale, such as a blue whale and dates to around 85,000 years ago. The excavation took about 3 months and the fossils had to be carried by foot back to the university. Read more.
