A Rhode Island Shipwreck Most Likely to be Captain Cook’s Long-Lost Ship

(popularmechanics.com) – For the past two years archaeologists from Australia and Rhode Island have been at odds over the the claim that a shipwreck appears to be that of the HMS Endeavour, a retrofitted coal ship made famous by Captain James Cook. The ship, currently known as RI 2394 was discovered just north of Goat Island, Newport, RI and was sunk by the British during the American Revolution. Now the Australian group is claiming further evidence to prove the ship is indeed the Endeavour. Read more.
