Some 25 miles west of Antigua and down wind, four islands lie off the cruising beaten path and therein lines their allure. Montserrat, Nevis, St. Kitts and Saba form a chain of mountainous and green isles that are like the Caribbean before cruise ships and packaged resorts.
Of these, Saba is the most unique and in a way the most interesting. Lacking a large secure harbor, Saba is only visited by more intrepid cruisers who discover this enchanted place is close to a Shangri la.
