Many thanks to everyone who sent in answers to last week’s queestion on Turk’s Heads. We had dozens of correct answers. The most complete answer is from Annie Washburn, Bellingham, Washington who emailed: “Turk’s Head knots have several uses. They can be decorative bracelets or the marker for the king spoke on a boat’s wheel. But, the initial use of the knot is as a weight at the end of a light throwing line used to retrieve heavier mooring likes on larger vessels.”
