Mindbender

Where on your boat would you find a “lubber’s line?”

Send your answer to cruisingcompass@bwsailing.com. The winner, selected randomly from correct answers, will receive a Blue Water Sailing hat.

Scott Neilsen is the winner of last week’s Mindbender with this correct answer to the question: What does the mnemonic phrase “True Virgins Make Dull Company (Add Whiskey)” remind you about navigation?

It is a mnemonic when correcting from true heading to compass heading or from compass to true.

True – represents true course.

Virgins – represents variation.

Make – represents magnetic.

Dull – represents deviation.

Company – represents compass course.

(Add Whiskey)- represents add west variation.
