This season of great white sharks off Cape Cod’s waters has not stopped the divers of the Whydah from exploring and finding more treasure on board as reported by the Cape Cod Times.
ORLEANS — The black vessel with a big “Seabees” sticker on the cabin stood out from the parade of brightly colored kayaks trundling down the boat ramp and the white cabin cruisers moored at the Town Cove landing.
The crew, an international amalgam of divers, loaded dinged-up tanks, bulky duffel bags stuffed with weight belts, wetsuits and masks, underwater cameras, metal detectors, reels of colored line, and communication equipment onto the boat.
“They have been around the world with me. They are good, reliable and honest,” explorer Barry Clifford said about the men assembled for the 34th dive season on the wreck of the Whydah Gally, a pirate ship and former slaver that sank off Wellfleet in 1717. Read More
