Through the AMVER System (Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System), two British sailors were rescued 598 miles off the coast of Bermuda. Initially the motor vessel Torm Laura heard the emergency call and diverted to the sailboat but due to heavy seas was unable to assist the sailors. Two more AMVER vessels arrived on scene and eventually the tanker Magellan Spirit was able to take the sailors off their boat, along with the assistance from motor vessel Ethane Sapphire. The sailboat was left adrift with its AIS activated. Watch Video and Read More
